Welcome to the Victor Advanced Media Co., Ltd.'s ("JVC-Media") Web Site. At JVC-Media, the protection of your personal information is very important to us. We handle your personal information with a high level of security and sensitivity. The purpose of our Privacy Policy Statement is to inform you about how we manage the information collected at our Web Site. To be in compliant with applicable laws and in recognition of the fact that the protection of private information is an important part of JVC-Media's social responsibility, we endeavor to conduct our business affairs in good faith.
Data Collection
Each time you visit JVC-Media's Web Site, our server automatically recognizes your IP address. An "IP address" is the address of the particular computer making a request to JVC-Media's web server. Other than your IP address, no personal information, such as your name and phone number, is obtained in this data interchange.
During your Web Site visit, we may ask you for your contact and other personal information. Specifically, JVC-Media collects the following types of information through JVC-Media Web Site:
- Contact Information: name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address(es); and
- Demographic Information: age, personal interests and product preferences.
This information is collected on a voluntary basis: that is only with your approval and if you choose to expressly provide such information.
Information provided by you may be used by JVC-Media for the purpose of future promotion of products, the sale of products and services, warranty registration, product recall, personalizing your online experience and to selectively send you information that may be of a particular interest. - Postal Addresses
JVC-Media may use your mailing address to mail you the JVC-Media catalog so that you are kept current on our most current products and services.
- E-mail Addresses
E-mail addresses may be used to communicate with you to provide information of interest to you about JVC-Media and products, including promotional emails. You may elect to opt out of any or all of these emails by contacting us as provided below under "Contact Information".
In addition to the foregoing, JVC-Media may collect other types of personal information to allow JVC-Media and its affiliates to conduct market research, meet users' needs and promote the purposes of JVC-Media Web Site.
In the event that JVC-Media offers sales of its products on its Web Site, JVC-Media may collect the following purchasing information to process orders, to verify credit card information, ship products and provide services: credit card number and expiration date, billing/shipping information and product information. Credit card numbers may be used only for processing payments and may not be used for other purposes. JVC-Media's online credit card processing system is handled by a third-party provider. Information is relayed to the third-party provider's system through secure channel using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). Your credit card information is not stored on JVC-Media's server or computers. Such credit card information will only be stored in the third party provider's PCI-compliant data center. JVC-Media's employees and agents who will be required to process orders will be provided with passwords, and only then can access the data center for your information. You should separately review the third-party provider's privacy policy to fully understand its privacy practices. If you have an open account with JVC-Media credit and payment history will periodically be shared with credit reporting agencies. In addition, your email address may be used by JVC-Media to communicate to you about your order, shipping details, service of products purchased by you.
JVC-Media does not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties, although JVC-Media may share personal information with its affiliates and business partners, including credit card processors for the purposes outlined above. In the event JVC-Media shares such personal information with affiliates and business partners, JVC-Media requires them to protect the confidentiality of personal information they receive, and they may not use it for any purpose other than to carry out the services they are performing for JVC-Media
The JVC-Media Web Site contains links to other web sites. JVC-Media does not control or take responsibility for personal information collected on these sites nor is JVC-Media responsible for the accuracy or the content of these sites.
Web Site Security
JVC-Media Web Site is equipped with Secure Sockets Layer ("SSL") technology. SSL protocol was developed by Netscape Communications Corporation to enable encrypted, authenticated communications across the Internet. SSL uses public key encryption mechanisms, one of the strongest encryption methods available to protect data sent over the Internet. SSL provides three important services, all using public key techniques: Privacy, Authentication, and Message Integrity. Personal information sent is not discernible to anyone except the recipient.
Browsers that support the SSL encryption technology are called secure browsers. Online orders to JVC-Media must be placed from a secure browser. Most Netscape Navigator (version 1.2 and later) and Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers (version 3.0 and later) are secure. Your browser will automatically enter the secure mode when you make purchases.

"Cookies"
A "cookie" is a very tiny piece of text that we are asking permission to place on your computer's hard drive. If you agree, then your browser adds the text in a small file. Each cookie has a unique identifier and structure assigned by the sending Web site. Only the originating web site can access a cookie left behind in a prior session (when you return to that site). Your personal information will not become public information on the Internet because you visited our Web Site.
JVC-Media may use cookies to:
- Gather information concerning users' use of JVC-Media Web Site, allow users with more streamlined use of JVC-Media Web Site and improve the functionality of JVC-Media Web Site;
- Allow you to build an order over time, adding components throughout the day or over an extended period of time. (Uncommitted orders will remain available for 30 days. An order that has not been visited within that 30 day period will be removed);
- Allow you to easily return to the site to retrieve information on previous orders;
- Maintain a client/server connection or user "state" as you move between pages building an order; and
- Allow you to store your user ID's.
Cookies are assigned an expiration date and time. JVC-Media cookies, used for online order processing, remain on your hard drive for two months. However, no more than 300 cookies can be stored by your browser at any one time and no more than 20 can be stored from any one site. If the cookie jar is filled, your browser will automatically begin deleting the oldest cookies.
Cookies cannot enable the web server to read from your hard drive, get your e-mail address against your will, destroy files on your computer, create executable programs, or obtain sensitive information about you. Cookies from one site cannot be read by another site; your information cannot be passed from site to site.
If you feel unsecured by the use of cookies, they can be erased from your hard drive. If you wish to do so, please consult your IT managers or conduct an Internet search in order to obtain more information. However, by erasing cookies from your hard drive, any links developed with the Web Site that sent the cookies would be lost. In the case of an online order with JVC-Media, the ability to create an order over time, or retrieve an order, would be lost.
Disclosure Subject to Legal Proceedings
JVC-Media will cooperate with any court order or other legal process and will provide users' personal information to the extent necessary and/or compelled for any legal proceeding. It is JVC-Media's practice to release account and other personal information when JVC-Media believes such release is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of JVC-Media's employees, our users or other third-parties. Further, in certain limited situations, JVC-Media may exchange information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
User Options
Users of this Web Site are subject to the JVC-Media's Web Site Terms and Conditions of Use. In the event JVC-Media collects any information from you which you wishes to retrieve, update, modify or have deleted, you should contact JVC-Media as provided below under "Contact Information." JVC-Media uses reasonable efforts to safeguard information concerning, and submitted by, you. However, you should be aware that it is impossible to guarantee absolute security over the Internet.
California Privacy Rights
Pursuant to Section 1798.83 of the California Civil Code, residents of California have the right to request from a business, with whom the California resident has an established business relationship, certain information with respect to the types of personal information the business shares with third parties for direct marketing purposes by such third party and the identities of the third parties with whom the business has shared such information during the immediately preceding calendar year.
